when to change cards

i have the barclaycard intial that i opened about july last year when would you think it is best to try to get a better card

How has your spending/repayments been? If you've been using the card and paying off each month then I'd say that you'd be fine to apply now. I think waiting a year between applications is on the far side of cautious.

Why not try the pre-eligibility checker on this site or ask Barclaycard if they are willing to give you a different card?

Maybe try someone like MBNA. They have a good deal on their American Airlines card at the moment. You can get up to 40,000 bonus AA miles (enough for a flight to the states) for spending £5k in six months as well as smaller bonuses for lesser amounts. You have to apply through the AA website for this though, not direct with MBNA.

There's no annual fee and the account comes with a VISA and an Amex card (one statement, PIN and credit limit) so it would give you an Amex to get in on some Foursquare action.

thanks for the reply i have paid everymonth on time by dd but as i am thinking of the barclays reward credit card would i have to close the inital or can you have to cards with 1 organisation

It depends on the company I think. I know it's possible to have more that one American Express or MBNA, not sure about Barclaycard though. Barclaycard do have a pre-eligibility checker you know...

I'd would think that if this says you'll be eligible then you won't have a problem with having two accounts.
