How long would you wait?

However, at what stage would you either start pushing for some progress, or start looking at other properties?
It can take months - be prepared. If you pull out you risk losing out on what might be your best deal and in the meantime house prices will have risen. As for looking at other properties you are always free to do so, but then you would start the process all over again - unless you find a 'no chain' one.0 -
Hmm, its all very worrying... 4 weeks and the vendors have still made no progress and say they have exhaused the market. I certainly dont want to be in this position another 4 weeks from now. I think we will keep looking at other properties and hope in the meantime that the vendors find somewhere they want to buy.0

6 weeks and still no progress. The vendors still wont allow our survey to be carried out so they clearly aren't committed to selling the house. Time to start looking at other properties :-(0

Sounds like you've been dealing with time wasters who don't deserve your level of patience.
We're about to put our house on the market, and if we sell quickly before we've found something else I'm prepared to move out and rent rather than lose a sale. OK, renting can be expensive and it means moving twice, but measure that against losing a sale in a stagnant market and there's no competition.0 -

Or are kind enough not to let you waste money. The survey is a small part of the entire process.
Are you continuing to look?0
