Hi
Managed to get a flight with RyanAir for 2p to Oslo! Hoping to find a cheap hotel/hostel, any suggestions? Looking to pay around 40 euros a night. Thanks.

you don't usually ever see those two words in the one sentence "cheap" and "oslo"
We stayed on a theatre ship right in oslo harbour great atmosphere, friendly people , bar on board , 2 minute walk to city and a decent price - ms invik or invig iirc"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

I’m afraid, for that kind of money. you will not find a room in Oslo; maybe a bunk bed with six people sharing.
Just think, what kind of a room could you get in London for 26 GBP? It's hard to believe, but Oslo is more expensive than London, Zurich, Tokyo or Moscow.0 -
Also remember that the transfers from torp to oslo itself are pretty steep (around £25 IIRC), plus beer and food are expensive too. You may have a cheap flight but it almost certainly won't be a cheap holiday!0

Like others have said Oslo is expensive, but you can sometimes find good deals, standard hotel chains are a no no, but there is hope, I stayed in oslo a few years ago and one of the Universities had a halls of residence type place, which offered mixed dorm rooms for groups as well as single and double rooms at fairly good rates (in comparisons to real hotels) I have no idea of the name of the place but found on one of the hotel web sites. It was clean, included a Norsk (norwegian)breakfast and while not in the direct center was walkable from the center.
Ryanair fly no where near Oslo, in fact the airport is called Sandefjord (I think) but the real Oslo airport is also no longer near the city either.
As it happens plans are afoot for a second Oslo Airport (in the direction to Sweden) which may be used by more low cost carriers0
