I agree with you that paying by DD would be simpler as its spread throughout the year but we can't make her do it if she doesn't want to.
We will look at other options for her but thanks anyway
I agree you cannot force her to do anything, but if what you have posted is a correct and fair assessment of her financial situation, surely attempting to explain to her the dangers associated with continuing the route you are currently pursuing for her would be very sensible, as would continuing to persuade her to pay monthly by DD by explaining the advantages to her of paying this way.0 -
I've used Ebico before but by direct debit quarterly in arrears or monthly in advance.
Not heard of the deposit but I would speculate it is because of the local demographic generating bad debt.
When moving to a new supplier via a switching website, I've never found a supplier who reconciles the bank details so get your housemate to use their own account to switch to Ebico and then cancel the monthly DD once she is accepted as a customer.0
