E-bay quick tip to beat them and get a bargain.

The new e-bay site (based on the American version) is designed purely to make e-bay more money.
They do this in very subtle and quite a sneaky way;
If like me you research e-bay and occasionally find what appears to be a bargain. Especially if the item is spelt wrongly or listed incorrectly, you will find that it is increasingly difficult to win it without lots of other bargain hunters getting in on the act.
If you put something in your watch list, e-bay make sure every one else can see what you are watching. They do this to increase the amount of people viewing the item, hence more people interested, hence more competition, hence higher selling price. This leads to increased charges to the seller, more money to e-bay.
If you bid on an item with the least amount possible, even knowing you are going to be outbid. Then remove it from your watch list. It remains on your "outbid" list, but does not show up on e-bays "see what other people are watching" lists.
When the time comes to bid and try to win it, leave it until the last possible second before you bang your final bid on. If you win you win it, if you don't, well there will be others.

If your research is true I would put a watch on all my business listings from my other Ebay accounts.
Use "sneaky" to your advantage.0 -
So, in short, bid on an item, you may or may not win it:p.0

Mind you, it then appears on the "What other people are bidding on" list which, in my experience counts for more. I always get a noticeable jump in page hits for things I'm selling after they get a bid, but can't say I've ever noticed much of a bounce when I get an additional watcher.If you bid on an item with the least amount possible, even knowing you are going to be outbid. Still, I'll be getting all my friends and relations to watch all my items from now on, and I'll offer my services (for a reasonable sum) to any seller who wants an extra watcher. :rotfl::rotfl:
SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
I've just put on my high visability vest, the flood gates are ready to open with all my extra watchers. :rotfl:0

And this surprises you because...?The new e-bay site (based on the American version) is designed purely to make e-bay more money.
eBay (not "e-bay"), like every other commercial organisation, exists for one reason, and one reason only - to make as big a profit as possible. In fact, as a public company they are legally obliged to do so.
What's next - a warning that Tesco's shop are designed purely to make them more money?!Philip0
