I've been having a problem recently with one of my PC's shutting off into standby/hibernation and then being unable to wake it up again when moving the mouse or using the k/b. Even depressing the power button on the front of the case does absolutely nothing, and the only way I can get it to work again is by switching it off completely by the switch at the rear of the case, then back on again.
I'm not aware that any settings have been changed, although I can't rule that out completely as a few strange things have been happening to it since my eldest was here messing around on it
Am I overlooking something simple, such as a setting that I can change, or is this indicative of a more serious problem?

I thought I'd done that already the other day by selecting "never" go into hibernation, but I've just discovered there's another tab with an "enable hibernation" tickbox
Will see if that works and cheers for prompting me to go back and check it"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

"Enable hibernation" tickbox only allocates the necessary disk space. The actual process is controlled through the power settings, as Mr Skint suggested. You can try disabling hibernation and see what happens, as you need to figure out what's causing the problem - suspend or hibernation (they are different).0

Well I left it on overnight to check it this morning but son's beaten me to it and has now gone to school and I forgot to ask him whether he had to restart it by the switch or if it came back to life on it's own
I'll leave it a few hours and check it again later."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
