do I need to provide a fire extinguisher/blanket for a house i rent out? If so where is best place to purchase, and what type?

AFAIK it's only compulsory for LLs to provide fire extinguishers or blankets for HMOs (Houses in Multiple Occupation).0

You can still pick up a fire blanket from IKEA for a couple of pounds.
In the same way smoke alarms are not compulsory but it could save your tenants lives so can you afford what £25/30 for a couple of smoke alarms and a fire blanket ?
Can be offset against tax you need to pay on profit from renting !0
