Payday booms?

Marketing seems to be a big deal around pay days of late, do any sellers experience very big jumps in trade?

We seem to get a little up in trade for a day or two, but nothing exceptional, except on a couple of products.

If you are a slave to payday, apart from bills, etc, what do you spend your spare cash on early on?

I notice a slow down in the week or so leading up to the end of the month, and then a spike - I often see spikes half-way into the month as well which I guess may be people paid fortnightly.

I tend to forget when they are, I've never been employed and pay staff weekly so monthly paydays passed me by.

Last week I couldn't sell anything, I was actually agreeing with hubb on his thread. I checked my listings and they weren't even there!

Then suddenly it was as though someone switched my listings to live and I've been really busy ever since. Earlier this week I was positively snowed under.

It has slowed a bit now, but Friday is traditionally a poor day for me.

The last two free listing days on my private account has been super busy as well, I'm selling nothing special, just odds and ends and with low start prices- yet I had to upgrade th einsurance on many of my items as instead of the £5 or so I was expecting they went over the £25 insurance limit on MyHermes. I had one item going Royal mail 2nd class that shot up over £55 and I had to pay extra for special delivery (ouch!)

I also did a car boot last Sunday, a mix of old business stock and private goods- all of it not suitable for ebay as too cheap to bother wrapping. I cleared over £80 after exntrabce fees- so there is money about at the moment. It's just not steady and it comes and goes.

Yes, I do find that I sell more towards the end of the month.

I also find people buy items a few days before the end of the month and then pay a few days later when they get paid, today is a good example of that.

Something I have noticed is, if I have 5 of an item for sale for a month or so, I'll then sell 3 of those items in a day!
