I did all the usual bits to get cheap house insurance and ended up with the same company as last year. Last year however the underwriter was Legal and General but this year it is a company I have never heard of JR Clare. As it is the underwriter you deal with if you have a claim is this OK. Any advice??

Yes it does. By underwriter you are referring to the insurance company that provides the policy. They all vary in the following areas:-
- Scope of cover.
- Extent of any add-ons like home emergency cover
- quality of customer service, important if you need to make a claim.
Best advice is to carefully check the policy wording when you receive it and compare it to the old L&G one. Make sure your broker has not saved you money by compromising on the cover in areas that are important to you.0
