  • If you don't give notice they could possibly (though unlikely) sue you for breach of contract.

How much notice are you meant to give and could you self certify for the allowed 7 days (of which you are 2 into already) and see a Dr who may sign you of for the rest of the period?

  • 2 weeks or theyl deduct it from my final pay. im not too fussed about that tho. i am hard working and i dont want to damage my reputation but i cant go back
  • You could always ask them to allow you to go early but as I have mentioned if you don't fulfill your contractual notice there is a small chance they could sue you for breach of contract.

Ideally you need to fulfill your contract whether its being of sick (done properly) or working.

  • Phone in sick.

Go to the doctor and get signed off for a fortnight.

    Give your 2 weeks notice.

You can't get signed off for not liking your job, unless you are suggesting the OP lies to their GP?

OP, why not speak to them about your wish to leave? If things are as uncomfortable as you suggest, they might agree that leaving immediately is for the best.

'I'm not a quitter but it's making me ill now' said the OP.

That's what doctors are for - for helping you when you are ill.

    HTH.

  • You can leave for whatever reason you want but as I KEEP saying. You cannot legally leave without working your notice. If you do you are at risk of being sued...end of!

Do as I and Funky above have suggested, hand your notice in, take the next 5 days as self certified sickness and then take 1 week 2 days sick via a dr's note (presuming they agree which I don't see why they shouldn't).

This way you have worked your contract without being there and cannot be sued for breach of contract.

I wouldn't recommend the Avon. You'll end up putting in loads of hours for hardly any money. Far less than min wage per hour. A lot of people won't return their books, will mess you around with orders, Avon have many items out of stock in almost every delivery. Its honestly not worth your while. I did it myself for a while out of desperation, I really wanted to make it work but it wasn't possible.
  • Totally agree about the Avon...
It was awkward also trying to personally get money out of people who decided y'know they didn't really want order because you can only take cash on delivery of goods..., the imaginary can see you in the hands of debt collection for failing to then pay Avon within their time-limit or trying to get blessied item back to Avon. There was something else about the invoice date that also can tie you up if your not loaded before committing to the Avon bandwaggon. Serious things to consider if running this alongside another job.
    Quite a business.
    Sorry to be the party-popper!
