Everyone needs somewhere outside themselves to release the stress. Some bake, some dance, some sew, some play music or instruments, some talk to friends or professionals. I write, have done since I were tiny, but you've gotta have some place to dump all those bad feelings and stress and tension that's outside yourself cos bottling it up does you no good in the end.
Doesn't have to be public, doesn't even have to be known, but find somewhere to store or offload that negative energy because if you keep it all inside it destroys you.
Here ends my wisdom
Great wisdom indeed, lalli-pickleWent to the Polling Station earlier with DD. Unusually on this occasion it was in the Church.
Me to DD: Are you sure you can manage the church steps with your crutches?
DD: Someone threw themselves in front of a horse so I could vote, Mum. I'm not going to let a little thing like crutches stop me.
Made me proud! :T
And quite rightly so, how wonderful of her to think like that :T :T
Anyway, evening guys. I have good news and bad news
I did get some sleep though my knee still hurts terribly when I try to move in bed and I can only rest by facing the knee down into the mattress but then I end up with a trapped nerve pain up the front of my leg  But at least I could lift my leg easily onto the bed and when I got up this morning at 6am having taken my meds, I could put weight on my left leg enough to get to the bathroom just leaning against wall/bannister etc. I decided to have another sleep but in the double bed as I thought with more room I may be able to get more comfy. It did work and I slept until about 2pm but when I got up and was opening up the blinds again, I felt a sharp 'pop' behind my knee and I had to push myself with my good leg to fall onto the bed and not fall over on the floor. Then got pain in my good knee!!
After sitting on the side of the bed having a good cry I got my things and managed to go downstairs by hobbling down top stairs and then rest of way on my bum. Could walk a little easier though and managed to get into kitchen and get some salad/cheese for lunch. After a couple of hours, I managed to get changed out of my pj's into clothes, and text my niece to arrange to go to the walk-in surgery. She picked me up at 6 and after a 10 minute wait, I got to see a doctor there. He examined me and confirmed that it was my hamstring either ruptured or torn but that I would have to go to A&E for a scan and possible immobilisation of knee
My niece dropped my off down at A&E with her eldest girl and we waited about half an hour to be seen. Nurse let me explain history of injury and examined my knee, confirming that the problem was the arthritis in my knee which had weakened it and overloaded the ligaments and then the hamstring. She said that I would need a knee replacement    I then went for an x-ray which confirmed the deterioration in my knee joint and nurse gave me codeine phosphate and paracetamol to take along the anti-inflammatories my doc had described. She couldn't do any more as I was not registered up here, but said that her concern for now was to control the pain, until I can get home and see my own doctor. My niece's hubbie had arrived by then and dropped me off home
I really struggled with just my walking stick at the surgery and hospital but can get about in the house a little better now, taking a little weight on that bad knee to hop forward
I took my meds at midnight and can already feel the benefit as it is double what I have been taking and I think that I will sleep well tonight
I am going up to bed now and, although it will still be hard to get up the stairs, I know it should be a little less painful
Going to just rest for a few days, hopefully sleeping a lot with these extra meds but getting about in house too as I need to move the knee to stop it locking up. Oh, and no driving for me !!! Nurse gave me a booklet on knee pain which contains exercises to strengthen the knee up but I am not able to start those yet. Oh, and also to apply ice for 20 minutes every 2 or 3 hours .......... so it is a good job that I now feel able to make it into the garage where the freezer is
I think waiting lists are a couple of years for new knees so I need to struggle on with the painkillers till thenMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

I would hope you would not have to wait that long. My mum had her hip replaced 2 years ago and waiting time between dr's referral and her having it done was 11 weeks and she was not completely imobile. Driving was getting painful and walking slower and she only used a stick when walking over fields ect.
She got a letter asking where she would prefer to have op done and she chose local private hospital as was nearest home. Amazingly quick.
I really hope your dr will get things moving when you return home.
I understand the arthritis as my knees feel like they are burning on the inside and it is not pleasent.
I saw my gp last wednesday (24th april) and she has had to refer me to the breast clinic. They phoned on monday 29th and arranged an appointment for next thursday, so 15 days in total. Sure everything will be fine but dr found lots of tiny cysts when she examined me so better to be safe as still too young for breast screening.
SD hope you have been ok today. Your posts were very emotional yesterday. Tough times in the past and ahead.
Big hugs

Further to my post earlier today on the subject I have double checked with Mr Tinyshoes and you mix equal parts of Borax and Icing sugar and mix with a little water to make a paste.
The ants feed on this and take it back to the nest, eventually killing the queen. You need to watch where they are coming from and place the poison in something like a small jam jar lid or milk bottle top along their trail.
Note: it does not kill the ants immediately, but it gets to the route of the problem. Has worked for us many times over. Borax is found in many commercial antkillers that cost much more than the homemade version. :money:
Good morning everyone.
Thanks for this Tiny. Can I ask, is this mixture harmful to dogs do you know?0 -
