Dead Flowering Currant or Not

Had to hack a flowering currant right back in the autumn .
Forty odd years old and very straggly and more wood than anything .
Now shows no signs of growth at all .
Worth waiting another year or not is the question .

I have currants which are now showing some leaves, so yours might be alive but a bit late. Is there any green wood?

Very few of my bushes are showing any leaf yet. If you hacked it back, it needs extra time to develop buds before it can start bursting into leaf. add to that a very dry spring and it will take a while. Unless the soil is WET, throw a couple of buckets of water over it.

Thanks guys .
No leaf yet and no greenwood / usual growth .
Sort of just grey wood at present with no sign of anything .
