Seriously though the fire brigade recommends not using a wshing machine when you are asleep just in case of fire. Mind you if you are doing the the ironing and vacuuming when do you sleep.
I have storage heaters but don't specifically put on any appliances at night.[/QUOTE]
All electrical appliances have a "risk". One reason to have a smoke detector position to pick up problems from the kitchen A high cause of fires in the kitchen is from fridges and freezers going faulty, but we all live happily with them on continuously.
The confusion on E7 times continues. I have a radio time switch in the East Midlands. The cheap rate for me is 01.00 - 08.00 all the year round. Because of posters on this site giving wrong information I monitor my times on a regular basis. The times have never varied since the radio time switch was installed twenty years ago.0 -

Yes I agree that all appliances have a risk, however fridges and freezers are designed to always be on.
If you have a radio time switch then it should stay at the same time. MIne isn't so doesn't change with the clocks.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

These fires are usually caused when the moving parts, through age give more resistance to the motor, and the safety devices fail when the motor overheats. Any change in the "noise" the appliance makes should be investigated as it is often a sign of stain on the motor.
The following confirms the concern over fridge and freezer fires:-
