Buying - Draft contracts?

Hi all,
Can someone please tell me - At what stage are the draft contracts sent by the sellers solicitor ?
There is more to life than increasing its speed.

    thank you. Do you know at what stage this is sent?

    Soon after the solicitors are instructed? or after survey ?? or after the searches?

    I didn't think searches started until the draft contract was received. So usually it isn't long after solicitors instruction.

    Some time before Exchange. There is no rigid timetable.

    Why are you asking? If you feel there is a delay- ask your solicitor.

    If you want to understand the process, buy or borrow (library) a book on DIY conveyancing.

    If the Local Authority needs a plan before it will do a local search, the draft contract is needed sharpish.

    TBH most vendor's solicitors get the draft contract out as soon as they have the information they need from their client to do it.

  • My solicitors received the draft contact within a week of the offer being accepted. They seemed to indicate that this was quick, but not too far outside the norm.
