Company forcing me to use Amex corporate card with personal liability

My company has decided that for all expenses from this point onward I have to use their corporate Amex card. Even worse, they are forcing me to sign an individual liability form so that I am personally liable for the account. My Amex bill is usually around 2 grand a month and I am extremely concerned about that debt over my head.

Is this legal?! Should I fight this? Or is it common practice and I'm being paranoid?

I had this problem with my last employer. Originally I had a company credit card, the company paid the bill and I had to account for everything on the statement; fine !

Then my part of the company merged with a larger part and we were informed that we had to use "company" Amex cards - in the individual's name. I said I was not happy to carry all the risks involved with that, plus having to claim all the expenses from the company and hope that the money got to my bank account before the bill was due !
I refused to have one, I was told I had to, I refused and said they would have to give me cash in advance. No more was said at this point. As the "old" company cards were no longer available I decided that as I was expected to carry the risk I would carry the benefits !
I got a new card with the best cash back terms on it and used that instead - no more was said by the company on this subject. I wasn't entirely happy but felt that I was getting something out of it.

I would read what it says in your terms of employment, it probably won't go to that depth Stand your ground, ask for cash or TCs in advance !
