Shame but that's a common mistake owners of new laptops make, perhaps thinking at the time they'll do it later and then forgetting. So what are your options?

The harddisk itself, if proved to be the culprit, can be changed easily via the acess panel on the underside of the laptop. New harddisks are widely available but in my experience Aria Technology and/or Ebuyer usually have the best prices.

As to reinstalling Windows 7 to the new harddisk, well your problem now is that your Windows licence is an Acer OEM version. So borrowing any W7 installation disk and using the Acer license may give authentication problems. There are ways round this but they could lead to Windows update problems. You could always check the Acer support webpage and see if they offer a set of recovery discs you can purchase.
I didn't do the recovery disks :-S I never got around to it, I've emailed all my docs to myself and put pics on photobucket. It doesn't normally stay on long enough for me to do much.0
