  • once replaced the ECU will reread actively and switch off the light if its the problem.

    disconnect battery.

once replace youll need to drive for a consistant 15-20 mins unloaded (no passengers) for all the programs to reread the loads so you need to take it upto 70mph, do some roundabout driving, cournering, etc, i used to just go down an industrial estate, then take up dual carriageway.

I must admit I have had loads of Renaults over the years and quality is much improved these days, though I do prefer to keep electrical gimmicks to a minimum on a Renault!

And I would be more likely to go for a 1.5 dci or a petrol rather than the 1.9dci, though a couple of Ambulance NHS Trusts has Megane estates, 54, 05 and some 55 plates and they seemed reliable enough and they were 1.9's some were for sale in the big fleet auction in Wales recently.

At least you look to have it solved.

    Also very safe recent Renaults.

My wife's 56plate Clio is just an Expression but still came with lots of airbags and seatbelt pretensioners.

But due to having beige seats and the car being used for work and with the kids in it they were stained and the drivers seats had some damage caused by the wife's "trendy" jeans.

So I got a set of Dynamique half leather (actually faux) from a 2012, when fitting them in I found the new ones didn't have seat belt pretensioners but instead had an under thigh airbag instead, though I adapted the wiring loan so the pre tensioner a work.

But I was surprised at the amount of thought that goes into little French runabouts.

I can see why they tend to have five NCAP stars.

Are you going to replace the estate with the new Megane estate?

I put a link up to a 3 yr old one with 60k miles with full leather interior for £6k a couple of days ago, it had my favoured 1.5 dci lump albeit in the more powerful 106 bhp version, but £6k for a recent Megane Estate with full leather is a lot of vehicle for the money.

Pity I will likely need an auto due to my arthritis.

Not really brave enough to have an automatic. Renault outside of warranty just yet!

Though that might be my loss. But I still remember the R18, R25 box and also the early Clio with the box that would give up the ghost almost like clockwork after 60k miles!

Portly really is an unpleasant individual.

Still waiting to read a post that does anything to help or advise anybody.

I have him/her on ignore but it is funny to see the quoted attempts at humour.

Portly is/was actually Chopper Read, he was banned recently for offensive PM's addressed to me, largely in the "in the home" section hence him posting in this thread.

He's headed for another name change if he doesn't stop following me about this forum, he a pure troll proof for all if needed.

Back on topic, I flicked through a JD Power survey or similar recently, Reenault is now up to number 3 at 91% in the reliability stakes. Don't recall what was 1 and 2;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

We had a 53 pltr clio from 192miles as a demo car, my 55 1.5dci was a year old, wifes next megane 07 was a year old, all variants of the 1460cc dci engine.

I even avoided the dealers or any garage for service work under warranty, just logged the stuff and kept receipts. No problem with any issues under warranty due to non franchised serviceing, but that's probably my over confidence and deep pockets, ;);)

There where a few minors on mine under the warranty, but none since until this niggle and it's now coming up to 8 years old.
    The others had no issues.

Will replace early next year, it will be a 1.5 110 megane GTline tomtom stop start jobby if nothing better appears, can't see much to get near it on economy or spec for the price.

Really?, I'll check that out. Also the new 1.6dci 130 has some good reviews.
To be honest it will be early next year before I make a choice so plenty of time for the research. Thanks for the advice, :T

After returning the wrong sensor the correct 1 finally arrived, fitted, returned to garage and faults cleared.

Sensor was eventually £36 and the £20 to the village garage, not a bad result:):)
