Removing Wallpaper & Adhesive

I have stripped the wallpaper from my hall/landing & stairs and I am now left with tiny bits of paper & adhesive on the walls.
Unfortunatley I have cracked most of the plaster getting this wallpaper off and need to have the walls skimmed however the plasterer has asked me to get rid of these little bits of paper first so that I get the best finish from the skimming
I know this is going to be a mammoth task and would be grateful for any ideas on the best way to tackle this.

A steam wallpaper stripper and a broad bladed stripping knife should do the job nicely and relatively quickly. Once the larger bits are removed, wipe over with a wet, rough texture cloth (an old flannel?) and that should leave you with a clear, clean surface.0

The best way to do this is when you are actually stripping.
I strip one wall at a time with the steamer, I I then get either a stiff broom, or stiff hand brush and sweep the whole wall while still slightly damp, this gets rid of the little nibs and odd bits of stuck paper.
As your walls are dry now, you might have to try and scrape them off, or get some sand paper and sand them.
To get rid of the paste residue prior to plastering, your best bet is to wash the wall down with a solution of sugar soap, this will clean all the kr@p from your walls, and get rid of the bits of paper thats left.0 -
Thanks for your tips, I'm going to have a go this afternoon so will give them a go.
