How much should I expect an electrician to quote for installing LED downlights? I need about 40 put in around the house.
He wants to use AU-FRL903SN Aurora 9W Non Dimmable LED Fire Rated Aluminium Downlights or maybe the dimmable version.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Can anyone help me on this?0

Quick google and it looks like including VAT they are about £30 each. So it is going to be at least £60 per light fitted. Maybe more depending on where you are. So my guess is £2.5 to £3k.0

40 down lights - that's a lot - are you sure? They don't give that great light esp in bedrooms/living rooms - Central pendants and side/reading/bedside lights are much better at providing light for these rooms and cheaper too
Personally I would only suggest fitting downlights in bathrooms and kitchens0 -

This quote is WAY OFF. We just had 10 downlights fitted in our kitchen and the fitting cost was £100. We did then have to get the ceiling replastered because the electrician couldn't get access from above the ceiling so had to cut holes but even then the plastering only cost £140 so £260 in all for 10 downlights and we got a nice newly plastered ceiling thrown in.0 -
That is a good price. What brand are the lights that you had? What is there lumens rating? Think the Aurora lights are 460 lumens which is pretty much the same as a 50watt halogen.0

Interesting...
Technically speaking, this should only cover the actual materials cost for the most basic halogen downlighters (not including the labour to install them). The type of downlighters OP wanted installed are at least around 30 pounds EACH for the actual unit alone!
I also don't know any electricians who would be willing to do the work of installing 10 downlighters for 100 quid!
That's a nice price, but I'm very doubtful it can be achieved anywhere else.0 -
I'm guessing that Gaz didn't get any certificates for that sort of price....0
