Easy fill hanging baskets: how many plugs to plant
Comments
-
Ive ordered these from Amazon. Based on the pic, each basket has 12 holes.
Does that mean one would need to plant 12 plugs in each?
Never really understood how many plugs to plant to achieve a nice full hanging basket look.
TIA for any advice
Depends on how close to the wall they are. I usually leave 3 holes unfilled as plants get rubbed and destroyed when windy. Remember you need to plant the top too with 3-6 plants depending on plant type0 -
Depends on the type of grate covering the holes, if you leave any empty you may need a liner to block the holes - defeting the purpose of these baskets.
You can always fill the sides with cheap trailing lobelia and just a couple of more expensive basket plants. Thats what I do for customers who have these baskets that I fill.0 -
I just ordered some of these baskets.
I'm not knowledgeable about plants, could anyone recommend any flowers I can plant into them that may flower over the autumn/winter?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
I bought these last year but from a local nursery and put them in the easy fill baskets. They looked lovely

I have several of the easy fill baskets, wouldnt go back to the old baskets.
You can fill evey gate hole to get a full basket or fill every other one, your choice really.
But pansy,s would be nice.:starmod::p:staradmin0 -

You want winter flowering pansies, (to be honest any pansy will do but they are labeled as that in the garden centres.
Possibly polyanthus or primroses, but the wind is more likely to get them.
To be honest, anything else is likely to be a disappointment at this time of year.
I would always say grow from seed, but that times gone for the year, mine, about 200 young plants, are eagerly awaiting the 1st frost to knock back the geraniums before being planted.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Thanks. How long did the flowers last?
I've still got some in flower from last years winter basketsbut they looked lovely up til April
