That was quick! The manager's reduction rail was still up from the last sale in the Swansea Oxford Street store on Saturday - I got three pairs of trousers for £3 each.

Boring indeed - rather like their clothing ranges. Rarely anyone under 55 in our branch. Younger customers won't be seen dead there - so glad I shifted my M&S shares some time ago. They seem to want to be the Thorntons/DFS of the 'fashion' world! :)

but their shares are doing well atm ?

Not as well as they were when I sold them for just under £8 a few years back! M and S has been coasting for years and doesn't seem yet to have woken up to the threat of competitors such as Primark, GAP, Next and Waitrose.

If I still had shares I certainly wouldn't be keeping them!

Absolutely ridiculous having so many sales. <shakes head>
Absolutely ridiculous to buy their clothing at full price IMHO.

Sale prices are ridiculous. I'm not sure why we do this dance every sale time with M&S. Everyone/most people wait till the prices drop further. To say trousers/tops are £15/17 in the sale is mad if they want to shift them. Why not offer genuine sale i e slash prices for three days to what people consider to be real bargains and clear unwanted stock
Also need to seriously look at their ranges now.
I was a firm M%S fan for years but rarely go near the place now except to buy food. I am in my mid 50's but don't consider myself that frumpy yet:)

Since when did Primark become a competitor for M&S? They are totally different ends of the spectrum. Waitrose doesn't sell clothes and GAP is aimed primarily at the younger market.
