New fridge dented - ideas for removal?

Hi
My husband made a dent in our brand new fridge freezer last weekend. I am, to put it mildly, annoyed. Your eye is drawn to it everytime you open the fridge. It is an American style LG fridge freezer with the stainless steel effect doors.
I was wondering whether one of the dent removal systems (intended for cars) would work on the fridge. Has anyone any experience of trying these kits?
My husband insists we can't claim on the household insurance for this. I am adamant that this is going to be sorted - even if he has to pay for a replacement!
Any and all ideas gratefully received!

We also have an LG American Fridge Freezer. Our DS1(16) headbutted it in jest and we ended up with a dent.
We had had the fridge for about 2 months and as there were some slight markings on the door that were caused by the label, that we couldn't get off, we rang LG (0870 873 5454) and told them about them - they sent out an engineer who also couldn't get them off - and he agreed to a new door.
It got fitted last week and it looks like new :T
So even if you can't 'blag' one, it might be worth contacting them to see how much a replacement would be.
We were wary of trying to remove the dent ourselves in case we made it worse.0 -
Thanks dora37. Did the engineer indicate how much a replacement would have cost you? Unfortunately the dented door is the freezer one with the ice/water dispenser so I fear it will be expensive.
Anyone ever tried the dent removal systems on a car or fridge?0 -
Dent removal tools unlikely to work unless you use the 'sucker' type, but I'm not sure how much success you would have.
How about a fridge magnet to cover the dent?
Is it possible to post a picture of the dent?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Yes I've thought of the fridge magnet idea but the dent is in the top left corner on a slightly curved part so not sure how it would sit/look there. I've noticed some kits selling on ebay which involve dent puller and bridge to pop the dent but not sure if this would work or may damage fridge further.0

Just a thought on the fridge magnet thing - you can get A4 magnetic 'paper' http://www.magnetic-paper.com/shop.asp - stick on your favourite picture, or design OH+Rolling Pin logo...0

Dent pulling kits would NOT work on the damage you have got. They only work on larger panels even on cars.
You might spend quite a bit on trying to remove this dent...and I dont think it would ever be successful.
Im afraid a new door is really the only answer ( and a new husband buy the sound of it !! )
Get a quote for a new door if you fit it yourself it would be cheaper.
Have you got 'accidental' damage on your contents policy ????
Perhaps a large vase has fallen from a great height ????0 -

Ours was the other door that was dented. The door was delivered by courier direct from the supplier and then the engineer came out to fit it. We have now a very large door that we need to get rid of!
In the box there was a delivery note with a cost of £175, however I do not know whether that was a trade price etc as we were not paying for it - neither would that have included fitting.0 -
If its a creased dent you will have absoloutly no chance.
You may be able to pop it back out if you could gain access to the inner of the door. But taking it apart will invalidate your guarantee.
Why couldnt you claim from your insurance, accidental damage?0 -
I don't think home contents policies pay out for damage that's purely cosmetic on electrical goods.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
