Barclaycard Logic.......

Options
Ok this is a bit of a rant but I still can't believe my ears....

History: 6 months ago I removed a second card holder from my account, cancelled her card and changed the postal address from the business we were ending, to my home address. The statements duly arrived at the home address - all good.

2 weeks ago I requested a pin reminder which didn't arrive so I just phoned again tonight.

The pin was sent to the address I cancelled 6 months ago because (and I quote): "By default we always send pins and cards to the previous address"

Duh?

I suggested that it was perhaps idiotic to be sending such things to places they know people have moved away from but they didn't respond.

So..... After confirming again the card number, expiry date, last 3 digits on back of card, last 3 digits of home tel number, mobile number, age next birthday, present address, previous address and whether I share the account.... I hope I may now receive pin reminder which I'm told should be with me by 4th May.

I hope to God that's 2013...

It turns out the answer to my problems wasn’t at the bottom of this tub of ice-cream, 🍨 but the important thing is that I tried...

You'll ring up on the 4th May asking where your card is only to be told they have no recollection of you ever phoning up and discussing it with them, but they'll offer to send another reminder to your previous address if you wish.

You'll then attempt to cancel the card in anger only to be told that you can't do that for some reason.

Then you'll go down to their offices, rip their heads off their shoulders, use their bodies as skittles and the heads as bowling balls.

So then another office will promptly send a PIN to the additional card holder you removed 6 months ago to start the cycle all over again...

...and then send a card as well, as since they didn't request the PIN but were sent one, they must need a card to go with it in order to rack up a bill in the OP's name!!!

They've always been good to me. I remember once, in 2009 when fraudulent transactions appeared on my account, they sent me a copy of someone else's statement!

And then later the same year, when I was away from home on a business trip, they cancelled my card while I was eating dinner. Their suggestion that I drive around an area I didn't know, after having had a drink or two, locate a Barclays cash machine and use that to reset my card was received with disbelief and hilarity.

They were surprised to say the least when I said I'd had it with them and wanted to cancel.

But apart from those 2 incidents of abysmal incompetence, they've been totally fine.

I would have to wonder if it is an issue of business -v- cardholder. Have seen previous issues where they have updated where the business is located but not the address of the cardholder(s) because the business hasnt explicitly stated that both are relocating.
