I could do with some advice.

I left my home 8 months ago due to abuse. My ex partner has paid the joint fuel bill by DD since the account was set up and has continued to do so. However, she has now cancelled the account but only from April rather than last September which is in my name on the bill and as the payments have not be sufficient, there is an outstanding balance on the account.

I have rang NPower up and told them I actually left last September and I have Council Tax records to show this. They just said thy would pass it to their accounts team.

My question is how should I proceed and how are the likely to stand with the balance?

Does the act she has been using the supply and making payments indicate that she has a liability during the period after I left?

I knew I should have notified them but I am honest in that I didn't think it was in my name as I hadn't been paying it. Plus, my post was being withheld during this period.

Any advice or info would be appreciated

Sorry to hear you have had a tough time. You didn't read close the account in your name at the time? That was not your ex's responsibility, they are responsible for opening a new account in their sole name. Should also have set up a Royal Mail redirect on your mail.

Try writing to NPower, enclosing evidence that you have long vacated.

send a copy of your council tax bill and copy of tenancy for the new property
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I am living with folks at the moment but I have council tax confirmation I am no longer liable from September and there are also meter readings from the time.
My former partner continued to make payments as well as use the supply but the payments haven't been sufficient as they are through the winter.

It seems she doesn't like the increased payments and just closed T&E account creating a fresh one in her name leaving a balance.

Is there anything as implied liability by using the supply and making payments during the period.

    Hi m4ttc,

Can I help here? If you can send me all the details and scan any copies of council tax records, etc. to forumresponse@npower.com, I'll see if we can get this sorted.

    Kind regards,

    Adam :)
