Unless your in scotland much of this sounds like estate agents BS, after all - even if you offered higher, you could always get a survey done which highlights extra work being required, and then look to bring price down as a result.. citing then that 'well anyone else offering would find the same with a survey'.. Until contracts are exchanged theres no obligation on either party..
Not saying its right or wrong to do that, but each party has 'tricks' that can be played in this scenario..0 -
Thanks for your replies. Husband is organising a second viewing as we speak. I understand with all the interest, the EA wants to ensure we're good for the money; it just seemed a bit a full on. The house ticks all the boxes for us so if we're happy after a second viewing, we'll offer what we think it's worth. If someone offers more, then at least we offered what we could afford, and we'll move on. As you say getmore4less, it isn't the only house in the area so as much as we love it, there will be more out there...somewhere!0
