im not really sure what to do... I recently changed suppliers from npower over to edf now npower say i owe them approx 87.00 but i am on prepayment meters so surely any money owing should be paid by edf... im really worried about this as they are threatening court action.

How can you possibly owe them any money if you're using a prepayment meter? Unless they switched you to a prepayment meter because you had debts with them, and you haven't paid them off yet?0

This is what i have said to them but they are pursuing it.... i was already on prepayment before i went with npower, before them i was with eon and it was them who put the meters in as i got into arrears but that was all paid before i went to npower otherwise i would not have been able to change supplier.

Presenting a bill for £87 isn't good enough, n'power have a duty to present clear & accurate billing
WRITE a letter to n'power headed Complaint requesting full details and meter readings as to how this debt has accumulated - Once you have done this
all demands for payment should cease until they have provided a satisfactory written explation
IF they don't do so after 56 days, you go to the Ombudsman0 -
be one of these things:
you used ilegal keys to topup
used another suppliers key before the switch
transfer read is wrong
constantly in emergency creditDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Hi kids0710evaste,
I agree with dogshome it is best to write and make a Formal Complaint.
If you do want to phone, the npower Complaint Phone Number is 0800 316 9328.
Make sure you get a Complaint Number.
Follow the Complaints Procedure

Unfortunately, there are many people who have been badly let down by npower. Their 'new system' is causing many bizarre issues.
For some examples, see Post #181 of the main thread
about issues with npower's 'broken system'.
I think your situation may also have been caused by this.
I think this is a much more likely cause than the possible causes in Post #5.

key charges are done by itron not the supplierDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
I'm not sure all this matters. You leave company A with a final reading, then join company B. If the reading is wrong, you will still end up having to pay for whatever you used, but it is just allocated to the other company.
You just need to make sure that you don't pay twice.0 -
