Mortgage from GE Money

Hello

I wonder if you can help me please. I've had my AIP from GE Money (bad credit mortgage) I'm putting down a 40% deposit. Just wondering if anyone has had a mortgage via GE Money and how long it took to go through.

I heard somewhere it takes 6 weeks to complete a sale on the house. Does this 6 weeks include the mortgage application? Does the solicitor start the searches etc after the mortgage application has been put in or during?

Sorry I'm a FTB, and completely clueless!

Thanks :)

  • Sorry I don't know about GE Money but I do know that the sale works won't be started until you have a mortgage offer. An AIP is just an approval in principle meaning they then need to check everything you have told them adds up and matches and then when the underwriters are satisfied you will be issued a mortgage offer.
Conveyancing (solicitors part) can take from as little as 10 days to 6 weeks to even longer if anything odd comes up in search reports.
Best to ask your solicitor and keep on at them if you are in a hurry!
Good luck with your mortgage and your move.

GE are a nightmare! (They ask for everything and the kitchen sink and everything is done paper based and oh i just hate their processes!)

Theyre also extremely expensive on some of their products. How bad is bad, because im very reluctant to send any of my clients to GE and i do a fair bit of adverse credit.

If everything goes smoothly, 6 weeks is possible i would say allow between 6-10 depending on how complicated your situation is. Admittedly, i havnt used them in a while (phew!) so things could have changed but my hairline isnt great at the best of times, dealing with them puts it under extra pressure.
