I think I'll bump your thread and jump aboard Kathryn as I was about to ask a similar question. My wife and I have been considering taking her dad to Greece for a week. He was there during the war and he has always wanted to go back.

He is very fit for his age with no mobility problems or major health issues (he's actually more mobile than me in some ways!). Does anyone have any idea where we could get insurance for him and what it is likely to cost?

Have you tried the MSE travel insurance guide?

I don't think there is an easy answer due to list of conditions. I think a lot of legwork and phone calls is needed.

Try a comparison site or the MSE guide. Other than his age (which will rule out some insurers) it should be relatively straightforward.

There are companies that specialise in insuring "older" people for travel.

I'm sure there are more but check the cover and any exclusions. You may need to speak to the insurer directly rather than purchase online due to the medical conditions.

You can have a look here to compare

I called Saga but they were incapable of providing an indicative quote. They said they need to know details of the holiday, where we are going and so on but we don't know that and the cost of the insurance would be a factor. Catch 22 anyone?

OH in 80s with several conditions, got reasonable (but still expensive) quote from goodtogo insurance. But they usually need to know the date, location, and length of holiday to quote.

This wasn't a straightforward holiday, it was a 5 day mini cruise (cruise insurances are charged more). We were quoted £266 from goodtogo, as compared to over £500 by All-clear. We got a quote for a similar cruise last year from Saga and it was around £350.

You can easily get a quote online from goodtogo. (Going through the usual lengthy medical questionnaire).

Just re-read your first post booler and your insurance quote should be nothing like ours. OH is 82 and has several serious previous conditions, although he is well now.
