If I buy annual travel card from transport for London (TFL) costing £1216 will I get 0.03x1216 = £36.48 cashback or just £9.00 on the month I buy the travel card ?
I have seen in MSE website Max cashback/year: £9/mth on petrol/transport here but can not find it on Santander website
Logic would dictate that a one-off payment in any given month is capped at the £300 limit, yielding £9 cashback. You could try calling them to ask, but I'm pretty sure you'll only 9 quid for your annual card. I don't live in London so excuse my ignore, is there any way of paying for it monthly at the same price?0 -
P.S. - There is a monthly cap not yearly, in case that wasn't obvious in my previous post. £300 on petrol and travel. No limit for the rest as far as I am aware from the Santander site. You can find a fair bit of info if you google Santander 123 credit card.0

Hi,
I can confirm above observations.I am from Aberdeen as well. I was wondering why I was not getting the expected cashback. Payatpump is classed 3910 and attracts 3%. However, most of the times I have paid at the counter ( Either tesco, asda or morrison) it has not been given petrol station merchant category and I got only 1%. I will in future ask the person at the counter to make sure it is correctly coded.0 -
I cancelled my Santander 123 card because of the £24 a year fee after 1 year.
I at the time got a Creation Cashback card that gave 1.5 % cashback on Supermarkets & all fuel with no annual fee which worked out better for me, and 0.5 % on all other purchases.
For some reason that creation card was never advertised on this site?0 -

The person on the counter will know nothing about merchant category codes and in the unlikely event they do they can't change them anyway.
My local Tesco gives 3% on kiosk purchases. So much so I buy bread and milk etc there instead of the store :-)
If you want the 3% at your local, you will have to pay at the pump.0 -

A booklet arrives with the Santander 123 card and on the last page is the same info about 3% on all petrol and the merchant codes.0

A 123 Santander credit card arrived totally unexpected and unsolicited. Has this happened to anyone else?0
