Lots of call centre and retail work. If you are looking at the Ashfield area (Hucknall/ Kirkby/ Sutton) you have E On and Prolog at the Sherwood Business Park at Annesley, E On also have several other offices around Nottingham. Experian is a large recruiter in Nottingham, along with Capital One. These may all offer opportunities to move into an IT role.
Also at Sherwood Business Park is a large council call centre.
Retail wise there are many shops in the city centre, and a few out of town retail parks.0 -

You would be best to Google if you're looking for official figures. My own experience of friends in customer service roles is that few have ever been out of work for long.
Why not look up some agencies in the area, give them a call and see what they say?0 -
One thing I will mention - is that the wage rate is better in the city (Obviously) than it is in the areas out in the sticks.
E on will only recruit using an agency (Cant remember which one it is)
Prolog has a high turn over of staff
If you can travel we have Experian and also Risk Disk but again, high staff turnover
There is also the Centre Parcs call centre in North Nottm, as well as centre parcs itself - both have good perks but i believe the call centre can be a high turn over (Although the main CP site tend to keep staff)
There is a Virgin call centre just out side of Nottingham
McArthur glen retail park is in Ashfield which may have jobs
Erm... if i think of anything else will let you know !0 -
Blimey. Out of the whole country, why do you want to move here?
I know that's not very helpful but I'm honestly intrigued by why anybody would want to live in this area. Transport links are great but the [STRIKE]great unwashed[/STRIKE] people? Not so much. :rotfl:'til the end of the line0 -
Believe it or not my friend I am trying desperately to factor in all my personal circumstances in a logical manner and as they say "There is method in my madness" But then they say humans are illogical most of the time!!:rotfl:Blimey. To counter your comments I have a bad sense of smell anyway... lol0 -
Thank you again my friend for some great positive, encouraging feedback.. you don't work for the Nottingham city promotion partnership do you?? lolYou would be best to Google if you're looking for official figures.
