BREAKING: Sale of 632 Lloyds TSB branches to Co-Op has collapsed

I wonder if Verde customers who want to stay with Lloyds might suddenly find Lloyds are a lot more helpful than they were, now they aren't bound by any agreements with the Co-op."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

If you see my separate thread on here they have been very helpful before the collapse.
Letters went out to all effected customers 2 - 3 weeks ago. A free number was given to call a dedicated team if you wanted to stay.
Aside from the fact that you had to be treated as a new customer and listen to endless terms and regs individually for every account moved (so a one hour + phone call) they changed it there and then.
They gave you new account numbers there and then.
They told you a date from which the old account would close and the new one open. And advised you could use your old account until then / or the new one as well if you paid in money to it before your balance was transferred.
Within 48 hours of the call I had a new debit card to add to the one for the old account.
Within 4 days I had a cheque book for the new account to add to the old one.
The date chosen for the transfer was selected to be in a lull between direct debits going out all of which they took care of.
The only 'blip' so far is that they are still figuring out how my Lloyds TSB credit card will be effected (or if it will) but it's current use is unaffected anyway.0 -
Not all customers were informed, my partner wasn't. The only reason we have found out is his bank card was declined 10 mins ago. Logged in to online banking and whoaaaaa different account numbers etc, called them up to find out what the hell was going on to be told, oh we closed your old account etcetc. Problem was he hasn't received anything from them telling him this was happening. Serious complaint i the branch tomorrow.Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0

That will not be anything to do with Verde - they haven't closed anyone's accounts or changed account numbers.0 -

Actually they have changed my account number (as with all those opting to stay) and will close my current account next week. So I guess it is technically possible this could happen.
Though not sure how as they would have to assume you had opted to stay and not transfer with your existing branch/account/number to the new TSB bank. And you would not have been able to tell them to do that without getting their letter.0 -

They didn't have much info (telephone services) but they said they would have assumed that he was staying as they hadn't heard from him, well they wouldn't have as he didn't get any letters only a new cash point card 3 days go for a savings account.Think it's about time the comping fairy remembered where I am! lol0 -

Only in response to calling the number in the letter.
As noted in my reply, unless someone got that letter and did do that the inference in the letter seems to be that they assume you are happy to be transferred to Coop (as was) TSB (as now is).
That transfer does NOT involve any change to your account details - other than you will lose access to any Lloyds branches and will need to use TSB ones after the transfer concludes.
They only switch numbers if you want to stay with lloyds.0
