You can buy it, but not activate it until the day you plan to use it, but only before 4th May.

I can confirm that this has worked for me using an iPod touch (5th gen). I still had the Arriva app installed from last year when they had the same promotion for "Bus Week", and my old details worked fine today-- it performed a quick update of itself, and a SMS reminder of my PIN number (which is unchanged since last year, I had already checked through my old messages to find it) was sent by Arriva to my mobile phone (any mobile you can read an SMS on will do, the iPod touch not being a mobile phone). Note that the 4 digit PIN number for your Arriva account is not to be confused with the 4 digit Voucher Code "4343" for this offer.

All I had to do was select the 'Purchase' option on the Home page of the app, and then as I am in the North East chose:
North East, North East All Zones, Adult, Day, and enter "4343" in the Promo box, hit 'Buy Ticket' and after a few seconds of validating it had added the ticket at a cost of £0.00. I was asked for my PIN as well at some point, that's the code you got in the SMS message which is not to be mixed up with the "4343" Voucher Code.

The ticket is now ready to be activated on the day you wish to use it. You must activate it before it can be used, and the app will need internet access (either WiFi or mobile data) to do this, so if you have a dodgy signal or rely on WiFi like I do, do this at home on the day you are using the ticket. Once it has been confirmed as activated, the ticket details with an animated logo will be shown on screen, and this is what you have to show the driver when you get on the bus.

The app doesn't need internet access once the ticket has been activated so you can close the app, then reopen it later without a signal and the ticket will still be there for you. Just make sure you don't run out of battery power later on, as a dead phone means the driver can't see your ticket and won't let you on the bus!

I found this offer on another site the other day.
With day savers being an eye watering £6 even one day of free travel is a lifesaver for us. We both have seperate phones so have got two meaning soon we are going to have a nice day out with free travel. yep £12 for both of us to travel with arriva , there extortion is for another time.

Plus the app especially with the new update is rubbish. I missed an important meeting the other week because i couldn't get a ticket , we didn't have enough money for the bus so was depending on it.
The money they make ripping us off you would have thought they could stump up the cash for making a good app.
But anyway it is a great offer if your app works :p

A North East Day Saver is £7.50.
