How send to Isle of Wight?

I've sold a chrome trim off a car, it's in a 5mm diameter tube and 85cm long, weighs under half a kilo.
Too long for Parcel post under the completely stupid new size rules, and Parcel2Go don't offer any courier services to IOW.
Anyone know of a method of sending it at sensible cost please, i.e. a fiver or less?

    Hi,

I run a business selling things all over the UK. I pay NO extra to send to Isle of Wight, it is counted as a Southampton delivery. Unlike the Highlands of Scotland, Ireland or channel Islands which cost a FORTUNE to get parcels out to!!

So, I'd pop into the Post Office and just enquire, you'll be pleasantly surprised I think....

Surely that length exceeds everything that RM offer?

The length is an issue, hopefully one of the courier gurus will log in and be able to suggest something.

  • I sent a CD rack 5' high (about 1.5m) via Parcel-to-go / Parcelforce.
However the buyer had to pay double to have it sent to Northern Ireland. It got there superfast (1 or 2 days). That was just a couple of months ago.

Try using the live message system on Parcel-to-go to ask them about it.

er, no they won't. Tried booking for shop drop and also collect, both times P2G came back with 'this service does not cover this area' and offering me Yodel at over 20 quid, remember this is a poster tube weighing about half a pound.

Should be able to send using Royal Mail as a Medium Parcel. Cost £5.65 for 1st Class.

Quoting from the Royal Mail Price Finder

"Medium Parcels can measure up to: Length 61cm
    Width 46cm
    Depth 46cm
    Weight up to 20kg max

Roll and cylinder-shaped parcels larger than these sizes can be posted as Medium Parcels up to 90cm in length and up to 104cm (length plus twice the diameter)."

In a phonecall with them at Christmastime they said that they don't have delivery agents in all areas. IoWight might be one of those.

Like the Cube there is the Tube :)

    Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels

For rolled and cylinder shaped items, the length of the item plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm, with the greatest dimension being no more than 90cm.
Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels that measure up to 45cm in length and 8cm in diameter and do not exceed 2kg can be sent as small parcels.
