There's a lot of interesting research going on into the role your gut bacteria plays in weight control. Solve your weight problems with a faecal transplant?

Careful with Marksdailyapple, there is some good stuff on there but I've also seen some that is fundamentally wrong.

    Any examples?

    1. If you only ate 400 calories a day when you needed 1500 to maintain your weight you would lose weight, although maintaining a calorie deficit of that size wouldn't be a good idea and you'd probably end up snacking.

    2. It'd take longer. I don't know how much longer, but generally people become overweight by overeating by only a small amount over a long period of time.

Eat lots of vegetables; take frequent exercise that you enjoy; go easy on the sugar and convenience food; give it time. Anything else is secondary.

Yes this is the right method to be fit and healthy.
  • No. It really isn't.

i take it losing weight is not the same as losing fat? or is it? if i cut my calories and loose a stone in 2 months, does it mean ive lost fat or not?

    It's not about calories.

First you'll lose water, then muscle. Unless you exercise in which case you'll burn fat (provided you aren't overdoing the starches and sugar).

Not necessarily. I've only lost half a stone, but I've dropped a full dress size. This is because I've built muscle as well as stripping fat - I'm heavy but quite compact.

It's not all about what the scales say.

Sorry but that is absolutely incorrect.

Which was it out of eating vegetables, exercising and not eating too much sugar that that you disagreed with, and why? I thought all those would be quite uncontroversial, even on an internet forum.
