Hi everyone, My pc has a tv tuner installed and For some reason it will not pick up any itv channels. Anyone know why or how to get this sorted. I only have a portable aerial. Would a booster or an external aerial work.?

You need to give it a good signal like you would a normal TV - better in fact in you want it to work well i.e. an external aerial. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Despite my outside aerial one of my freeview boxes will only work with a signal booster - it was just a cheap one (less than a tenner) and with it the box works perfectly0

External aerial roof could work, depends on your coverage.
When analogue is switched off, the digital signal will be increased in power, so should have less problems in future. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
cheers guys. I will try a booster and do a little more research. I did find something talking about different frequencies on itv signals, anyway i'll give it a go.0

Yes, the ITV channels are on a different multiplex (Mux for short).

ITV is on Mux 2
If you are missing ITV, you'll be missing a few other channels too.
Each mux broadcasts within the same space as 1 old analogue channel. If you have problem with that frequency then you miss out on all the channels broadcast within it. Could be poor reception, or another device using that channel frequency.
Be careful of being sold a 'digital' aerial, there is no such thing.
Digital channels are currently broadcast at a much lower power than analogue, so you may need a higher gain aerial than currently used for analogue.
As you are picking up most the muxes with a portable aerial, I'd say you are in a pretty much strong signal area, and maybe a slightly better aerial (preferable) outside would do the trick.
