Small Claims Court guide

If he's as you've described then filing a claim is probably a waste of time and money ... he'll already know all the tricks of the game to make finding any of his assets a real problem. So spending money on a claim and subsequent High Court Enforcement Officers (Bailiffs have very little power) is likely wasted money.Jenni x1

I have a cut and dry case which looks like I'll have to take to small claims.
I paid a hefty deposit for some garden landscaping and they just never turned up.
If I start the process and pay the claim fee then go to mediation could I ask for the claim fee to be added to the amount I'm asking for?
Or would they frown upon that as I'm not meeting them halfway?
Unfortunately it's not a limited company, just a one man band so I'm not sure they even have the money any more but I still think it's worth trying 🤞0 -
I made a claim against Ikea. Anyone know if it will affect the claim as I put Ikea UK instead of Ikea Limited? I took the name Ikea Uk from their footer on their website. It’s only after submitting the claim I saw on company house that they are registered as Ikea limited. What are my options?0

If you got the address part correct it will probably be accepted as a clerical error.
The correct address (the registered office) is:
IKEA Ltd.,
100 Avebury Boulevard,
Milton Keynes,
MK9 1FH.
IKEA UK, where they have admin offices such as HR and customer services, is at:
Kingston Park,
Peterborough,
PE2 9ET

Can anyone advise please? I took out a Moneyclaim online against a tradesman who required full payment upfront for a service. He didn't attend at the booked time, made excuses, rebooked the appointment, turned up without the equipment he said he needed, failed to rebook, then suggested a time that wasn't suitable for me. I said he'd had plenty of opportunities to fulfill the contract and asked for a refund. I allowed 28 days then chased, he said he'd pay immediately...
Nothing arrived. So I started my claim after sending a letter before action.
He responded to the claim saying he'd refunded me in full, but gave no details. Mediation was agreed, but he failed to respond to their phone calls. A court date has been set for June, so I will have to make a further payment to cover that, ontop of the Moneyclaim fees. Today I noticed a payment from him for the initial amount paid, but no costs.
Should I go ahead with the court case to get my costs back? I would imagine that his initial claim that he had paid is actually perjury. Would that affect the judges ruling? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I've now received the CCJ against IKEA. What do I do next? They have still yet to contact me. I saw that I need to complete a form N323 form in order to enforce payment. I am not sure how to complete the fees section of this form. Also do I need to do something about the name (Ikea UK instead of Ikea Limited) before I do this form?0

Just an update regarding Ikea. They contacted me after receiving the CCJ and have paid up therefore settling the case. What a nightmare it was dealing with them. Their customer service or lack of makes me wish I never have to deal with them ever again.2

Hello, anyone claimed for just under £10.000, taking the total sum over 10k with the court fees? Is it still considered small claim? Thank you.0
