pc has been working fine. i built it around 6yrs ago. today i turned it on and it wouldnt boot. it couldnt find the floppy drive. well i dont have one and when i went into the bios all of the settings were back to default. i changed them and booted into windows no problem. this afternoon i booted the pc and again it wouldnt load and the bios settings are back to default.
i am assuming the battery on the motherboard has reached the end of its life.
does anyone have any other ideas? and where i could buy the battery from. is it ok to use a normal watch battery.
thanks
matthew

I buy my CMOS/watch batteries from The Small Battery Company. I buy everything online :rotfl:

Sounds like your CMOS battery needs replacing. They're easy to do. I bought a whole card of 30 different size batteries from my local Saturday market and they work fine.
