I had a quick search through VM's website but couldn't find anything where it states how many characters are allowed before it splits messages into multiple messages. I could only find a note stating that modern phones allow long messages, and that these will be split into potentially THREE messages, but not at which point they will be split.0

It looks like they count spaces as characters which I didn't know about - the mean beggars!
