How long to give non performing seller?

As the title asks, how long would you give a non-performing seller? I bought a cash on collection item on Saturday and messaged them the same day to request details/arrange mutually convenient collection time & day. They replied Sunday to say I could collect on Monday evening, but didn't provide any address details. So I requested details, but I've heard nothing since.

I've had a look at the feedback history and they'd bought the item they were selling just over a month ago, but for twice as much as I paid, so I suspect they now don't want to swallow the loss :mad:Annoying, since they listed on a FLW so could have set a higher starting price to get their money back.

So, how long do I give them to contact me, and what do I do if/when they don't?

  • This is now Tuesday and they expect you yesterday but they did receive your 1st email saying monday evening is fine, and maybe they didnt get the second email and assumed that ebay sent the address to you . They may have been waiting for you to come round last night.

Go to the request users information and get the persons info, and ring them from the number they registered when they opened an ebay account and contact them tonight and go round.

If there is no number then complain to ebay you cant get a hold of them but it is early days and no need to panic. Some people dont have broadband or 24hr access to pc use, and miss some emails, so calling them up is usually easier.
NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself"

Well, I got their info but still couldn't get in touch, and received no contact from them..........until today! They actually phoned me and said they'd deliver as they'd be in the area. Then, this evening, they did as promised and delivered :T

So thank you onetwothree123 for your advice - you're right, I'd started to panic :o. I'd convinced myself that as they'd not got the price they'd originally paid, then there was no way they'd complete the sale. I really must try to be not quite so cynical (although sometimes it can be difficult with some of the e-bay sellers and buyers you come across ) Feel quite guilty now for thinking the worst of someone :o
  • All's well that ends well, that's brill, the majority of private sellers are just ordinary people selling something here and there, and like all people from walks of life, they have been distracted or even forgotten about ebay for a day or two.

Yes you can easily think the worst but the vast majority of people are ok to deal with that was nice they came to you and smiles and handshakes were exchanged and the ebay item itself. Things can be resolved fairly quickly with a phone call as I always think emails can go unread and/or internet connections can go on the blink!

    Enjoy your item :)

I think that in general, some people aren't accessing a pc or arent quite as savvy/ on the ball as you seem to be, and with all the new screens, ebay can be confusing to negotiate and some info screens can be hard to locate if you arent online often.
