I've tried everything: shouting, kicking it, restarting...
I'm using Xubuntu, and I'm very much a n00b. If I try it in Gxine, I get an error that says:
The Gxine engine failed to start
No input plugin was found.
Maybe the file does not exist or cannot be accessed, or there is an error in the URL.
And I really don't get it. I've been trying to mend it all day. I'd go back to Windows, but I can't it to work there either. It worked fine before I installed Xubuntu and upgraded to windows 2000 (I'm dual booting, and had ME before)

Hi juno
I'm using Ubuntu.
The media player that I use for DVDs is 'totem'.
You could try installing that using Synaptic Package Manager.
And if that doesn't work then you could use VLC media player.

DVD reading requires descrabling.
Windows cant play DVDs out of the box, just like linux.
