in Credit cards
Hi,
I have finally convinced my brother to get a CC to improve his credit record. So he tried applying for one through his bank (Santander) around a year ago and got rejected.
So I am assuming this is because he hasn't got much of a credit record as he lives at home, has a direct debit card and a phone contract and thats it.
I was thinking he should go for the Capital One card as I have heard some bad things about Vanquish. Or should he try again with Santander instead?

You've heard bad things about the Vanquish I doubt it as the pure elegance and power delivery of these are second to none.
As for capital one not sure what this has to do with cars.0 -
I just got a Capital One card after being rejected for some other 'bad credit' cards. Applying, receiving and activating the card was painless and there's an app that lets you keep track of transactions, see due dates etc. for the iPhone. Don't know if that will benefit him but it's handy if he has one
Before he applies again though, has he checked his credit files with the three agencies to make sure there are no inaccuracies? What will your verse be?

I'd have thought cap one, Bcard Initital, aqua or Vanquis would be a better bet.
The last thing he needs as a first credit card experience is to deal with Santander's customer service. He may never go near a bank again.
I don't think there's anything particuarly wrong with Vanquis - the complaints mostly seem to be from people who don't know how a credit card works (which is a significant majority of their base).
Come to that, most of the complaints on this board are from people who don't know how their credit card works....0 -

Too true and people who haven't read or understood the terms of the credit agreement.
Glad to see that there is no 'h' in Vanquis.0 -
Lol sorry that's my stupid phone auto competing!
Good point about the credit reports and will get him to do those first.
I think we'll go for capital one, and now I am going to show how dumb I am as I can't find the cc on their site, could someone provide a link please? Thanks0 -
