PCN for an invalid permit, allegedly!

I hope someone can help.
I parked my car on the road outside my house which needs a parking permit Monday to Saturday. I put a permit in my car on Sunday evening, as i knew i would not be able to put a permit in the car before 8am when the parking restrictions began. I scratched off the silver panels for the correct day, put my address in the box like i should do, but apparently in time of arrival, i wrote " Overnight".
As, once the time has been put on, it is valid for 24 hours. I thought that because there is no parking restrictions on Sunday, this would have covered the fact, i had parked before 8am and be a valid permit.
Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated and if anyone needs anymore information, please just ask.

Pepipoo.com is the lace for you, post there as they have a lot of posters well versed in council lore.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I would simply appeal at first and see what they come back with, bearing in mind that most initial informal challenges to a Council PCN are rejected 'because they can'. But what they don't tell you is that most appellants do win who go as far as adjudication. So take your eye OFF the discount, expect a rejection at first, and treat this as an all-or-nothing appeal and more of a long game!
Sounds like you have a case to say the permit was clear, if you had scratched off the date and had arrived overnight then clearly your permit covered you until 'overnight' 24 hrs later which is during a non-restricted period anyway. I would argue that your permit is 'substantially compliant' (use those words!!) as Councils use those words to reject appeals themselves, and adjudicators understand the concept too.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Finally got it sorted!
The council have written back to me and quashed the ticket, admitting that the ticket was obviously valid for the time i got the ticket, but they used the councils discretion to overturn it. It looked more like i had caught them out with their dodgy parking attendants, than them doing me a favour!0 -
Well done and thanks for the update on your success! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
