yea stoke on trent values are generally very low but due to the repairs needed to our property ive been offered 40k by 2 seperate companies, i have applied for social housing today but due to the equity i have in the property and the fact that im not currently homeless will probably go against me.

But the disrepair, damp, unaffordability of repairs and health implications may go in your favour. Make sure they are aware of them.

yea ive attached a covering letter with my application so hopefully we have chance even if we dont hopefully they can advise us.
  • Never mind attaching a letter. Make an appointment to see a housing needs officer. They may arrange for an inspection by environmental health, or they may even be able to signpost you to services available to fund making your home tenable again.
