Hello
We are going for an expected last minute break to Wells next to Sea, leaving tomorrow
We would like to know the unmissable things to do (no kids so no theme parks etc needed) love walking and eating and anywhere interesting National Trust as we are members. Any nice restuarants, pubs and lunch stops greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

sheringham is nice for a day out ,the steam railway is great. plenty of eateries there you may get into sandringham if the queens not there , cromer is ok , burnham overy staith is just down the road , the beach at brancaster is huge , if you are walking on the beaches around there take care as people do get caught out by the fast tide esp wells
some trip advisor eateries in sheringham0 -
Just along from wells is the most beautiful beach ever at Holkham as walked along by Gwyneth Paltrow at the end of Shakespeare in Love. Wish I was there but hopefully will visit in August. Have a lovely time!0

Lucky you. Wells is fabulous, we've been on holiday there many times. You can walk along the beach to Holkham and stop at The Victoria for lunch or drinks. Then you can walk back or jump on the coastal bus. The Hoste Arms in Burnham Market has the most wonderful restaurant and Burnham Market itself has some lovely shops. A trip to Holt is always good too. Would also recommend The White Horse at Brancaster if you like seafood.2013 wins: Teenage driving lessons, a signed copy of The Host, a weekend away, XBox charging set, a case of wine, Hello Fresh box, tickets to Viva Forever, lamps & handcreams, signed Salt Yard cookbook

There's a beautiful ruined abbey in the centre of the area (name escapes me - Binham perhaps) and if you go farther east (its a real pig to find) a fabulous moated house (Baconsthorpe) ruins of a wool merchant from about 1600 - both are free and incredibly atmospheric towards dusk - they may both be English Heritage so can be looked up on their site - CAstel Acre was a nice stroll - with old castle & gate house
As noted above the bus service along the coast is excellent so you can just leave the car behind if you fancy a liquid lunch !0 -
thank you everyone we had such hot weather and such a lovely time, went to Holt, then Cromer and slowly along the coast to Wells. Spent whole day walking on Holkham beach, the Victoria is closed for refurbishment by the way so no food! Loved Wells, stayed at Old Customs house - nice. Had a good time in Burnham Market too, didn't get to eat at the lovely restaurant or bump into Stephen Fry! I wonder where he lives?
Then, next day, on way home, spent day at Sandringham, its open all the summer (Queen stays elsewhere on estate if she goes). Absolutely loved the house and grounds and would recommend very highly as a day out.
Thank you all again so much0 -
Stephen Fry has a home in a village along the A47 (road between Norwich and Kings Lynn). Forget what the village is called now but it's not too far from Swaffham0
