nothing in writing what so ever, he just verbally told me that he would give me 4 weeks and would call back "randomly" to check the house again.
Wouldn't be having that at all I'm afraid.
Is there anyone else who could phone on your behalf? Or even just as a generic type query.
None of this sounds legit to me.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Ive seen a housing officer once in 18 years of being here, they can force entry if they need to for example if you dont allow access to service a gas boiler, thats the only time I need to allow someone in, that or when I need a repair done or when theyve upgraded the heating.
Never in my life have I had a housing officer inspect my house to see how tidy it is.
Thankfully.0 -
And its not housing staff who do any of the above things, its workmen.
The only time someone came round to inspect my house, it was pre planned and because I was thinking of moving out, a transfer and they wanted to give a report to the Housing Association on how I kept the house.0 -
If they had genuine concerns that there was a health or fire-risk they would have written and asked for access. Idle curiosity about unused decorating vouchers isn't plausible to me.
Let this guy in next time if you want but I wouldn''t. Not without seeing his ID and his authority to pop round unannounced.0 -

I'm not too fussed about him coming to see it again once I've had chance to get better and tidy up, it really isn't that bad and won't take long. The house is very small with little storage space so it does tend to be a bit packed to the seams so it doesn't take much extra mess to make it look very untidy in the sittingroom. It seems no sooner have I taken stuff upstairs it seems to find it's way back down here, I'm sure my son has a teleporter in his room lol
I'm worried that he'll have it in his head he can call back to keep checking on me or that he will decide that my version of tidy isn't good enough. I'm probably overreacting cos I'm not well0 -

I suppose I could email them but I have already sort of agreed to him coming back so not sure how much of a leg I now have to stand on.
Personally I wouldn't email just in case it got passed to him to deal with. I'd phone.
Stuff the fact you'd agreed, means nothing. Find out policy first and if this is standard procedure.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Just to answer your original question they can't just evict you if it's not tidy enough - judges do not evict with flimsy evidence.
Do you have a tenants' association?I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
Are you a probationary tenant OP? Sounds like the kinda crepe used to make Housing statff feel important.Opinion, advice and information are different things. Don't be surprised if you receive all 3 in response.0
