Domestic & General agreement

I recently had my washing machine repaired as it was under the warranty for parts only.

Ive now received debt letters from Arc Europe about a bill of £147.88 from D&G which Im presuming is because they think I have taken out a policy with them.

I have to my knowledge not done this and know I have definately ot signed anything to that effect but Im worried they will destroy my credit rating with their threats of a CCJ.

Have emailed them to ask for copies of any docs they think I have signed.

Had you paid the labor charges for the engineer to call out and fit the free part?
  • Is it possible that the bill is for the labour charges involved in the repair?
If the parts only warranty is with D&G, then there is a good chance that this is what it is for.

I havent had the bill yet. They said I had agreed to an annual service agreement which is rubbish, I never take out insurance on white goods

When you call Hotpoint ; to take advantage of the free parts warranty ; they sell you either a one off payment (which covers any other labour costs in the next year) or a monthly plan. Is it possible that this is where the confusion lies?

It could well be that I misunderstood what they were offering but I havent signed any agreement with D&G so am I still liable?

You don't need to sign anything.
Agreeing over the phone is equally binding.

    Possibly.
An agreement without a signature made over the phone or via the internet is as legally binding as one made in a face to face transaction.
You could contact D&G and ask them for a recording of the phone call as you don't recall being asked to agree to anything, and see how they respond.

As an update. I asked for a copy of the internet agreement they said I signed up for. I know I only spoke to them on the phone so knew they couldnt provide it.

The debt company came back, agreed they couldnt provide it and then asked for my personal details so they could negotiate a repayment plan.

I once again reiterated that as I hadnt agreed to anything with them, they had no evidence to suggest any different they should cease harrassing me for a debt I didnt owe.

    Not heard from them since!
