Gumtree Sale

Sorry if this is the wrong section I'm looking for some advice

I have put my iPhone on gumtree for £250 (iphone 4s 16gb)

I have received one offer for the phone £240 from someone who wants to meet me in a pub car park tomorrow lunchtime to buy the phone

I just get this gut feeling that something isn't right

Has anyone any advice on whats the best way to go about it?

I'm worried that I turn up and someone steals the phone etc

o2 have offered £215 for the handset so I'm also wondering should I just cut my losses and sell it there

If you are offered £215 from a reputable source I'd take that.

If you turn up in a carpark all sorts could happen.

Always go with someone and always count it/ check for fake notes.

Do NOT meet some random stranger you do not known in a car park as they will grab the phone off you and mug you, run off and being busy car park vanish quickly and be obscured by parked cars, or have a friend sitting ready to drive off and you can also be viciously beaten and in some cases available on the web have come to light about serious assaults, when meeting a person off gumtree, someone was murdered in South Africa responding to an ad on gumtree.

Nothing normal at all about it , you only sell an item like this to someone from your home address, they can come in and examine it, and not be home alone at the time, and always count the money before they leave so they see YOU are also legit and a real genuine normal householder .

Be mad to agree to meeting anyone in a strange setting for a small but expensive item easily stolen when o2 made an offer already, a hassle free offer with no chance of being mugged! No choice really.

Thanks for the replies it confirms what my gut feeling was telling me. I'll take the £215 and enjoy not having to worry about getting my head kicked in.

LOL That reply really tickled me, you have a wicked sense of humour.

Am glad you are being cautious and thinking sensible thoughts ie personal safety before money Gumtree site is swarming with knock offs and criminals ready to ambush you, and am always cautious if interested parties try and knock your price down even more before even seeing a item, that is the general conman etiquette.

    Be safe online !

I only meet up for non-bulky collection items in a train station or coffee shop/McDs.
