The dealer has been lazy and inept throughout, whether the problem's their fault or not.

The dealer offered a very good discount on the car - very impressed with them at the end of the day

    Compute does not!

Ha. Anyway, glad you got it all sorted. More patient than me, I'd have walked with all my money from the moment the manufacturer cancelled the order.

    Nice to have an update.

however, I'm not sure why you'd want to pay for auto lights? Are you not capable of telling when its dark?

Wasn't impressed with them when they didn't seem to be putting in effort fixing the problem, but when it came to getting things sorted in the end they didn't mess us about at all - we asked them for their best price on the new model, and they gave it to us, and knowing that we'd been messed about on this one, they made it a good one. Putting everything right in the end counts for a lot. :)

I think it was a combination of really liking the car (hope the new model's as pleasant to drive as the old ones were) and reaching the point where we felt we'd been treated so badly we didn't feel inclined to let them get away with it. If they'd cancelled the order straight away, let us know about it as soon as it happened, and apologised at the time, we might have just walked away too...

Got used to them on our other car, and they were a fairly cheap add-on to the original spec. Bundled them in on the new one as well because they come with a range of other convenient features, and because we really just wanted to match the spec we'd gone for originally.
Finally a happy home (and mortgage) owner...
