Item not received / slow postage

Hi guys I need your advice as although I use eBay a lot I have never had any problems and needed to open disputes etc.

I won an auction for a cheapish item on 8th April and paid for the item quickly after. The payment wasn't claimed by the seller for a good 3-4 days and I heard nothing from the seller until the 15th April when they messaged me apologising for the delay in shipping of the item as they had problems with their paypal (which isn't my fault but I can understand why the item wasn't shipped until they had secured their payment). They also went on to say they would post the item later that day. Note that the listing says item will be posted "Standard Delivery (Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For)"

So now it's the 22nd and I still haven't received the item. I contacted the seller a couple of days ago saying nothing has arrived and asked them to confirm the item had been posted. I have received no reply from them.

Is it about time I should open an item not received dispute on eBay or should I wait a little longer? I tend to be a bit cynical sometimes and wonder why it took so long for the apparent posting of the item!

Thanks,
Sock

I would be opening the item not received case now. If it was posted early next week 1st class it should have got to you by now. Add to that the lack of response to your enquiry and the previous delay, I think it's entirely reasonable to open the case now.

Thanks, I just wanted confirmation that I wasn't being too hasty in wanting to open a dispute!

One thing I have just seen is that on the order details page it does say "Estimated delivery: Fri. 26 Apr. - Sat. 27 Apr." Is there any reason the delivery should be this late considering I paid for the item on the 8th April or do eBay just greatly increase the expected delivery times to cover themselves?

What does it say in the listing with regards to how long they have before posting? ie: post within 3 working days ect?
Some sellers allow themselves a long lead for posting and it can be anything upto 30 working days for dispatch.

As far as I have worked out that estimate is based on when a seller actually states item was dispatched. To me that seems a bit of a loophole as it implies the buyer is wrong to think item is late, when seller has delayed sending an item.

Regardless, I would open a full INR case if the system allows it.

Not only was that info in the listing - but it again came up when you checked out.

So the qiestion you should really be asking yourself is - why did i still bid if i'm not happy to wait?

On the actual listing it states 'Delivery:
Estimated within 4-5 working days' with dispatch within 3 days of cleared payment.

The item has still not been marked as dispatched, however I've now opened a case and will await the sellers response!

I bidded because the listing stated item would be dispatched within 3 working days of payment and will take 4-5 days to arrive which I subsequently had no problem with.

Thanks for all the advice and info by the way, as I've said I've never run into any problems using eBay and help is appreciated.

If the estimated date is on an iPad or mobile app, it is likely a glitch. Mine is the same, things I received months ago are always estimated as next week. No idea why! Do an item not received report ASAP.
