Joint JSA but husband starting work

Myself and my husband got JSA in January. We get £111 a week - his part is income related and mine is contribution based. My husband has now found a job starting beginning of May and is going to sign off of JSA. Will I still be entitled to anything? I have tried ringing the Job Centre to find out but the person I spoke to was useless.

Also he has to find fuel money for a month until he gets paid and that is going to be a major struggle. Is he likely to be entitled to any help towards this?

You will still be able to get your contribution based JSA until you've been getting it for six months. He shouldn't sign off yet but when he actually starts the job.

    You mean Contributions based JSA.

Your JSA C will continue for a total of 6 months from when you started claiming. £71.70 a week, your partners new job will not affect this.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Me and OH have been and signed on today and OH told them he is starting work on 1st May. I was told I can still sign but will only get my national insurance paid, I won't get any actual money. I am pretty sure they are wrong.

The person we signed with had to speak to 2 other colleagues before she came back with the answer. They really do not seem to know much at all

To be fair they are not benefit experts, some will have benefit knowledge if they are long standing members of staff but newer ones will not, you should ring the Benefit Delivery Centre for advice on your claim.

It really is about time that those working in the Jobcentre should be told not to give out any benefit advice unless they undertake training (which they currently don't)

They may not be aware that it is a JSA C claim that you have.

You should pone the BDC and ask if it is JSA C and what is your exhaustion date.
